Methylation & Pyrrole
In the early 1970’s the Pfeiffer Institute discovered a direct and profound role of specific nutrients in the production and recycling of our neurotransmitters and hormones. All of which of course govern our quality of life on all levels of our experience. When these specific deficiencies persist then mood swings, addiction, compulsion, attention deficit, hyperactivity and spectrum tendencies begin to emerge. Unmanaged long enough, they lead to advanced behavioural disorders, such as; schizophrenia, bipolar, suicidal ideology, autism, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, ADD, ADHD and Alzheimer’s.
Methylation and pyrrole metabolic pathways have been identified to significantly impact our fundamental biochemistry. Both genetic and acquired cellular mutations can actively disrupt the delicate nutritional balance required for our neurotransmitter and hormone synthesis and regulation. It is a rather complex biochemical cycle with particular complications for each individual but simply put … consider it a manufacturing engine in the liver that can run too slow to meet demand and can sometimes be compounded by co-enzyme (gateway) binding that will limit production … this is what is termed as ‘metabolic stress’. If any of these anomalies are present then it doesn’t matter how much meditation and deep breathing you do, it won’t go away.
Fortunately, modern nutritional technology offers us the opportunity of correcting the highly specific nutrient deficiencies that match the metabolic needs of the individual. It is enormously gratifying as a practitioner to witness the obvious and tangible transformation that quickly pursues.
Methylation (Pfeiffer) & Urinary Pyrrole Test
The Methylation Pfeiffer Test is a unique test developed by Dr Carl Pfeiffer which tests a combination of core nutritional elements that make up a comprehensive biochemical assessment to monitor and evaluate methylation that can impact mental and physical well-being. The Pfeiffer test is done at your nearest pathology centre for collection of your blood. The test includes the following combination of nutritional analysis:
- Plasma Zinc
- Serum Copper
- Ceruloplasmin
- Whole blood Histamine
- Homocysteine
- Vitamin D3
- Zn:Cu ratio

The Urinary Pyrrole Test analyses the level of HPL, a neurotoxic substance. High levels are associated with vitamin B6 and zinc deficiencies, and treatment with these nutrients results in symptom resolution, as well as lowered levels of the urinary mauve factor.
Test Options:
- Methylation (Pfeiffer) Test $260
- Urinary Pyrrole Test $125
