What is Earthing or Grounding?

Earthing, also known as grounding, is a healthy lifestyle practice that may be just as fundamental for our bodies as vitamin D from the sun or clean water. The earth’s surface has a limitless supply of electrons. When we touch or make conductive contact with the earth, they enter our body where they act like antioxidants or anti- inflammatories. This can be thought of as a kind of electric nutrition or Vitamin G for ground.

Walking barefoot on green grass or using a barefoot substitute (an indoor earthing product) are just two simple ways we can easily bring the earth’s free electrons into our body.

When we earth, free radicals and excess inflammation in our body (which have a positive charge) are neutralised by the earth’s free electrons (which have a negative charge). This is how earthing can help ease a wide variety of inflammation related health complaints from acid reflux to skin conditions to autoimmune conditions.

There have been over 20 review articles and studies on earthing to date in peer reviewed journals documenting improved sleep, reduced pain & inflammation, improved circulation, faster wound healing and more.

Here is a partial list of the benefits of earthing:

  • Reduced pain
  • Improved sleep
  • Faster healing
  • Reduced stress
  • Improved immune response
  • More energy

Try it for yourself outdoors. Put your bare feet on green grass in your garden, or walk on moist sand at the beach. Pay attention to how your body feels after 30 minutes or more. You may be surprised at the results.

Medical Advisory

Medical studies show that Earthing is a natural blood thinner and can influence thyroid function and blood glucose levels. If you are taking medications for the above, please consult with your health professional before using an indoor earthing product so that your dosage can be monitored and altered if need be.
